Recorder's Report Archive

The Tulsa Audubon Society's Annual Recorder's Report lists sightings in Tulsa County.  In recent years Recorder Paul Ribitzki has expanded to annual report to include birds from the records of the Tulsa Audubon Society for the year as well as eBird sightings. He provides a summary  containing all of the rare species reported. The data is presented in two formats. One is a compilation of species reported by season, including the first and last dates reported, the number of field reports per season, the number of individuals per season, the total number of reports, and the total number of individuals. The species are divided into five reporting seasons: Permanent, Summer, & Winter Residents and Spring & Fall
Migrants. These periods are based on the Oklahoma Ornithological Society's Date Guide to the Occurrences of Birds in Oklahoma.
The second is a graphical representation of the same data. It provides a percentage of the total count of a species reported for the year by the week reported. The seasons are color coded. This data is skewed towards two major reporting periods: the TAS Tulsa County Spring Bird Count and the National Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count. It should not be concluded that the abundance of these species peak at these times. This report includes birds that were submitted directly to Cornell University's EBIRD database for the TAS reporting area.
Paul also provides a comparison of the current and previous year's records.
I would highly encourage anyone interested in birds to take a look at these very well done reports and summaries.
