Flycatcher Trail Support

Flycatcher Trail Sponsorship Opportunities

We initially developed Flycatcher Trail with a grant from the Audubon/Toyota TogetherGreen program, and with very significant donations of labor and materials from many local companies, contractors and volunteers. Now that the garden is established, we need to develop ongoing financial support. Every year there are expenses for plant materials and supplies, and there are still some significant infrastructure needs.

Unfortunately, due to the state budget issues, our public schools are suffering and Jenks Public Schools is not able to offer any significant financial support. So we are asking the community, both individuals and businesses, to support this project. In addition to the ongoing expense of plants, mulch, tools and other supplies, there are two specific projects we need help with in 2017.

Please note, as of late 2018, we met our goal to complete the Pathway Refresh and it has been installed. We are still working to complete the Outdoor Classroom area.

Decomposed Granite Pathway Refresh
There have been so many visitors to the third of an acre garden that the original decomposed granite pathway has been worn down and is completely missing in some areas. We need to refresh the pathway with about 25 tons of new material and stabilizer. To help keep the new path material in place, additional grayedger cobblestones will be installed. The total cost of this project is $4,000. We hope to complete this project as soon as possible, so there will be upgraded pathways before the increased volume of students and visitors visit the garden to see the flowers and trees filled with butterflies, caterpillars and birds.

Outdoor Classroom
Our other needed project is to create an outdoor classroom area. The goal is to increase the quantity, quality and benefits of the outdoor experiences for students and visitors by providing another area, just outside the garden, to observe and study birds and other wildlife. This will involve additional rock work and landscaping in the area just west of the fence line, which is currently Bermuda grass. Once the area is prepped, additional tables and benches will be added for students and teachers to use, and for members of the community to use for picnicking. The total cost of this project is about $3,000.

100% of your donation goes directly to materials and labor (for tasks that cannot be done by students or volunteers) for the Garden and all contributions are tax deductible as Tulsa Audubon Society is a 501c(3) organization. Tulsa Audubon Society is a fully volunteer organization and the garden is maintained by volunteers.
