Glenpool, Oklahoma

These photos show what I have in my yard to give birds food, shelter and water. When I moved to this home in 1980 it was new with a very bare yard of dirt. As the pictures show, that has dramatically changed. Now it is a very comfortable outdoor area where many birds are as much at home as I am. My yard is about 96x136 feet in size and is listed with the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat, and also as an Oklahoma Certified Wildscape. If anyone wants to come visit, or has questions, I can be reached at 291-7481.

Backyard in Summer, 2002

Peanut feeder that Blue Jays get in to. I also put peanuts on the back patio each morning. Blue Jays eat them in a short time. It is fun to watch them try to pick up 2 ro 3 peanuts at once when their beaks can only handle one.

Thistle feeder in Crab Apple tree, which also provide food

Three feeders that contain a mixed seed filling. The platform feeder has mostly black oil sunflower seed. Suet cakes are in 2 holders on the cedar feeder.

Cedar feeder with 2 suet cakes. Young Buford Hollies are at the base of the fence. They will provide more shelter and food later.

My backyard, with shelter water and food for the birds.
