2003-2004 Program Schedule2003Tuesday, Sept. 16, 7:30 p.m. - "The Nickel Preserve” by Chris Wilson" Chris Wilson, Preserve Director, will discuss the Nature Conservancy’s 15,000 acre J. T. Nickel Family Nature and Wildlife Preserve located along the Illinois River in the Ozark region of eastern Oklahoma. Tuesday Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m. - “McCurtain County Birding Spots” by Berlin Heck Tuesday Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m. - “Lesser Prairie Chickens” by Don Wolf, Biologist at Sutton Avian Research Center. Tuesday Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m. - “Annual Show and Tell” slide presentation. Attendees are invited to bring up to 10 of their favorite slides on any subject of general interest. Contact John Kennington. Bring goodies to share after the meeting. 2004 Tuesday Jan. 20, 7:30 p.m. - “How to Document Rare Bird Sightings and the Benefits Thereof” by Jim Arterburn, chairman of the Oklahoma Bird Records Committee Tuesday Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. - “History of the Deep Fork NWR” by Darrin Unruh, refuge manager. Tuesday March 16, 7:30 p.m. - “Updates on the Illinois River, Eucha and Spavinaw Lakes” by Ed Fite, Administrator of the Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission. Tuesday April 20, 7:30 p.m. - "Oklahoma Butterflies" by Walter Gerard, butterfly expert and co-author of an upcoming book on the butterflies of Oklahoma. Tuesday May 18, 7:30 p.m. - "Native Tree For the Backyard" by Monica Macklin, Instrutor of Biology at Northeastern State University. |
