The Mitchells will share images of birds, and other wildlife, taken
during their visit to these two amazing African countries. |

“An Overview of The Nature Conservancy’s Four Canyon Preserve” with
Chris Hise. Oklahoma’s newest nature preserve encompasses 4,000
acres of scenic mixed-grass prairie, wooded canyons, and riverine
habitats along the Canadian River and protects a diversity of plant and
animal life. |

Show and Tell Party .
Attendees are invited to bring stories, slides, artifacts, or digital
images (up to
about 10) on
any subject of general interest (birds, animals, travel, wildflowers,
etc.) to share with the group. Members bring treats to share after the

Important Bird Areas” with Eric Beck, coordinator of the state
IBA program. The purpose of this nationwide Audubon Society program is
to identify a network of sites that provide critical habitat for birds. |

"A
Nest of Eagles” with raptor rehabilitators Gary and Kathy Siftar,
John Fisher, Dave Edwards, and other participants. Inspiring story
about the many people involved in the rescue of two young eagles from a
nest blown down on the Arkansas River near Sand Springs on April 23,
2004. Also discussed will be the building of a replacement nest by
Sutton Avian Research Center, the watchful eyes of Audubon members, and
the eagles’ successful fledging.

Biodiversity
and Germplasm Conservation with Angela Davis. The speaker, a
research geneticist at the USDA’s South Central Agricultural Research
Lab, will share her unique perspective on protecting our natural
resources. A decrease in biodiversity can have devastating effects on a
population's ability to survive. Dr. Davis will discuss how habitat
destruction affects our environment and our food supply. |

“From Black Gold to the Black Oystercatcher: Challenges and
Opportunities in Alaska” with Taldi Walter, Alaska Field
Coordinator for National Audubon Society. Ms. Walter has traveled
throughout the country taking Audubon members on a virtual tour to some
of Alaska’s most stunning natural treasures through her multimedia
presentation. This program will showcase some of the important natural
areas and brilliant birds of wild Alaska and the imminent and compelling
challenges facing conservationists. |

banding hummingbirds and share general information about these flying

“Mouse School” with Gary Siftar,
Raptor Rehabilitator from Broken Arrow, will
present a very entertaining program on determining how proficient
rehabilitated raptors are in making a kill, featuring video observing
Great Horned Owls in "Mouse School" (catching of live prey). |
