Regularly Scheduled Events

Tuesday Morning Birders. The Tuesday Morning Birders meets at 8:00 a.m. every Tuesday morning at the Tulsa Garden Center from November through March and at 7:30 a.m. April through October during Daylight Savings Time. Join us! Call Patty Moser, 252-2824.

First Saturday of every month. Bird with Oxley Nature Center Staff in Mohawk Park. Meet 8:00 a.m. at parking lot. Call 669-6644 for details.

Second Saturday, March through October. Oxley Nature Center Butterfly Walk, 10:30-12:00. Call 669-6644 for details.

Third Saturday, March through October. Oxley Nature Center Wildflower Walk, 10:00-11:00. Call 669-6644 for details.

Tulsa Audubon meetings. Meeting are held the third Tuesday of each month (except June-August,) are free and open to the public. Meet for snacks and social time at 7:00, program begins at 7:30 p.m.

The September through March meetings will be held at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria in Tulsa (click here for a map.) The April and May 2009 meetings will be held at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. in Tulsa.

Sept. 12-13, 8th Annual Oklahoma BioBlitz! is being held this year at the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge on Friday, Sept. 12th at 3:00 P.M. through Saturday, Sept. 13th, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. The Oklahoma BioBlitz! is a rapid inventory of biological diversity hosted by the Oklahoma Biological Survey and conducted by volunteers from around the state and the region. As many plants and animals in a designated area of public land that can be identified in 24 consecutive hours are tallied. www.biosurvey.ou.edu/bioblitz.html

Oct. 4, Sat. Field Trip - Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Gardens.  Visit the site of the this new facility northwest of downtown Tulsa, still under development and help TAS develop a bird list for the Gardens as we walk the grounds, viewing birds and other wildlife. Oct. 12, Sun. Together Green Event - Sittin’ Green Together, Deep Fork NWR Habitat Improvement & Big Sit. In conjunction with the Friends of the Deep Fork NWR we will be planting native plants, doing trail maintenance and cleaning, and participating in a Big Sit bird count. Birds & Wine - Grand Lake & Summerside Vineyards.  We will begin the day looking for Pelicans and other birds on Grand Lake, and then visit Summerside Vineyards in Vinita for lunch and a winery tour. Dec. 13, Sat. Together Green Event - Oxley Nature Center Habitat Improvement. Join us to help remove invasive species from Oxley's habitats, and perform other work to improve Oxley's trails and ecosystems. Dec. 20, Sat. Christmas Bird Count. Tulsa Audubon Society will be participating in the 107th count by the National Audubon Society. For information contact Jo Loyd, 918-835-2946.

Jan. 3, Sat. Eagle Days. Meet between 8 and 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Watchable Wildlife Area, east of the Corps of Engineers Office on the north side of the Arkansas River at Lake Keystone dam. For information, contact Dave Edwards, 865-7398. This Eagle Day is also part of Tulsa Audubon's Together Green program. Apr. 18-19 Field Trip - Selman Ranch for Lesser Prairie-Chickens. The Selman Ranch is located north of Woodward Oklahoma, and this will be part of the Oklahoma Audubon Council's Lesser Prairie Chicken Festival. Apr. 25, Sat. Birds & Wine - Washington Irving Memorial Park, Bixby sod farms for Spring migrants and Stonebluff Winery. This is a joint event with the Audubon Society of Central Oklahoma. Meet 8:00 a.m. at Washington Irving. At 9:00 a.m. ASCO will join us there, and we will then bird the sod farms. At noon those wishing to will travel to Stonebluff Cellars for lunch and a winery tour. If you are planning to visit the winery, please contact John Kennington, 918-809-6325 so we can get an accurate headcount.
