Sept. 15-16, 6th annual Oklahoma
BioBlitz! is being held this year on at the Quartz Mountain
Nature Park on the west shore of Lake Altus/Lugart in southwestern
Oklahoma. The Oklahoma BioBlitz! is a rapid inventory of biological
diversity hosted by the Oklahoma Biological Survey and conducted by
volunteers from around the state and the region. As many plants and
animals in a designated area of public land that can be identified in 24
consecutive hours are tallied. For more information, go to:

19, Tue. Society Meeting. 7:30 p.m. Mountain Plover: Oh, the
Farmer and the Plover Should be Friends with John Shackford. A dedicated
researcher will discuss this interesting species and the unusual story
behind its rejection for Endangered Species status.

Field Trip. Gilcrease Museum is hosting a special exhibition of
works by John James Audubon from the Audubon Museum in Henderson,
Kentucky. Meet at 9:00 a.m. in the north Gilcrease parking lot for a
short bird walk around the grounds before visiting the exhibit. Bring a
sack lunch and stay for a 1:30 talk about Audubon by the curator of the
exhibit. Admission to the exhibit is $7.00, less for children & seniors.
