GIF - Flying EagleBald Eagle Days

Saturday, January 2 &
Sunday, January 10 17, 2010

Please join us to view our wintering Bald Eagles below Keystone Dam. Our members will be there to help you spot the Eagles, and will also have spotting scopes so you can get a close-up look at the birds. This is one of the more reliable spots to see our wintering Eagles, but of course there is no guarantee. But TAS has been holding these tours for over 20 years, and there have only been one or two occasions when the Eagles failed to show!

The tours are held from 8:00 a.m. - 10 a.m. both days. We will be at the Watchable Wildlife Area, which is just below the dam on the north side of the river. To get there, go west from downtown Tulsa on Highway 64, also called the Keystone Expressway. Follow the signs for Sand Springs, but go past Sand Springs to the exit for Highway 151, which will take to over Keystone Dam. You will turn left just before going over the dam. Once you are down to the level of the river follow the road for a few hundred feet and look for the Watchable Wildlife Area along the Arkansas River. Below are some maps showing how to reach this area.
