GIF - Flying EagleBald Eagle Days

Our Eagle Days are over, but it is still possible to view our wintering Bald Eagles below Keystone Dam on your own. This area is one of the more reliable spots to see our wintering Eagles, but of course there is never any guarantee. Directions to Keystone Dam are below. The best time to spot the Eagles is early to mid-morning, around 8:00-10:00. Eagle are not early risers! They will still be around in the afternoon but are less active, and by late afternoon are returning to their night roosting areas.

The Bald Eagles remain in our area until approximately mid-March.

To get to Keystone Dam, go west from downtown Tulsa on Highway 64, also called the Keystone Expressway. Follow the signs for Sand Springs, but go past Sand Springs to the exit for Highway 151, which will take to over Keystone Dam. You will turn left just before going over the dam. Once you are down to the level of the river follow the road for a few hundred feet and look for the Watchable Wildlife Area along the Arkansas River. Below are some maps showing how to reach this area.
