Audubon Adventures: An Education School Program
Audubon Adventures is an award-winning nature-study aid
and multi-disciplinary curriculum
enhancement program produced by the National
Audubon Society for grades 3 through 6. The exciting environmental topics for
the Audubon Adventures 2001-2002 school year are:
So Different, So Alike: The
Diverse World of Mammals
They called us Cold-blooded (about snakes, turtles,
and other reptiles)
Who Needs a Backbone? (about invertebrates)
The Feather
Factor (about birds and all their variations).
Each Audubon Adventures kit
includes 32 color environmental newspapers per topic, a teacher's classroom
resource guide complete with background information on each newspaper topic,
detailed lesson plans, tips for outdoor study, research material, duplicating
masters, links to relevant web sites and suggestions for hand-on activities to
foster further knowledge and understanding of each topic.
As children use the materials in this program to practice
skills in reading, writing, research, observation & collecting data,
they also learn fascinating facts about birds & wildlife. Audubon
Adventures supports the teaching of math, geography,
social studies, science & technology. No prior training in
environmental sciences is required to use this program.
Become a Special Friend of Children and Nature
The success of the Audubon Adventures program is due to the generous
contributions from members and friends. These gifts plus a share of the funds
raised through our the sale of bird seed, calendars and other items made it
possible for elementary students in many area schools to go
"Adventuring" last year. Our goal is to be a part of all schools in
the Tulsa area.
